| Comments: Jerry Jeff Walker opened Last Little Feat show with Lowell George "This was an amazing show. It almost didn`t happen. There was a really wicked ice storm. (Much worse for driving than snow is). We did a show in Norman Oklahoma the night before, and drove all night to Houston. (More like a controlled skid for hundreds of miles). The road was closed. They weren`t letting anyone on the entrance ramps, but we were already on the road, so the cops let us keep on going. Ron Merkle (Lighting director), and I were in the lighting truck, with the semi truck following us. Somehow we made it to the venue, and Gene Vano (Road Mgr.) and everyone else were shocked when I called Gene and told him we were there and unloading. They were in the middle of canceling the show. Merkle and I set up the whole show. (well, he and I and the local IATSE crew). We set up the speakers and positioned all the audio gear as best as we could. The sound guys were in disbelief, as Merkle and I had reputations as kind of crazy party animal mf`s. We were total Rock & Roll heroes that day. We drivers got bonuses for actions above and beyond the call of duty. Great show, but I was dodging fireworks all night. Folks were just tossing them in the direction of the stage.
